Watertower
Studio Noakes
Residential
2024
In 1985, Sydney Mayor Clover Moore breathed new life into a relic of industrial heritage, the McMurties Shoe Factory, reborn as the Watertower Loft Apartment. Studio Noakes meticulously resurrected its gritty charm, blending historical integrity with a young artist’s contemporary flair—a sanctuary where artistry and architectural homage converge, enriching urban life anew.
Principal Genine Noakes, drawn to The Watertower's architectural legacy, spearheaded a restoration that celebrated its origins, peeling back layers of neglect to showcase the apartment's inherent grandeur and distinctive character.
Exuding warmth and sophistication, the renovated Redfern residence intertwines mid-century functionality with avant-garde accents, a testament to Studio Noakes' meticulous craftsmanship and the client's discerning taste in art and design.
